Training in the safe use of mechanical restraints will provide the knowledge and skills to be able to safely apply rigid and hinged handcuffs and soft cuffs for the purposes of safely containing prolonged aggressive and violent behaviour and to allow for safe escorting of patients, service users or aggressors from one location to another.
The training can also be delivered part online part face to face to face, which is known as blended learning, this can help to reduce the amount of time colleagues are away from the work environment but still allow for a thorough learning experience.
